Yellow Tulips for Kim

I've been working on yellow tulips for Kim today. Here's my favorite so far.

I've fallen behind again on NaNoWriMo, hovering around 7,000 words. I'm confident I can make it up by the end of the month. I think.

Happy Birthday, Scorpio

With my birthday coming up this month, I did a bit of online research about my Zodiac sign. Some of it I knew already (loyal, intense, intuitive, passionate, jealous, obsessive!) and here were a few other items I found interesting.
Famous Scorpios include Claude Monet, Georgia O'Keeffe, Pablo Picasso.

One of my favorite Etsy artists, Jessica Doyle is also a Scorpio (November 8th). That's her original artwork, Evolution. I'm in awe.

The Scorpio motto might be “What is hidden is more interesting than what is obvious.”

“The water of Scorpio is fixed and frozen, but it is a mistake to think that ice doesn’t flow. It does flow – and with great power. Think of a glacier, moving so very slowly, yet with enough power to flatten a forest or even a mountain.”

See You Soon

Took a break from the novel writing last night to do some painting (finally) and watch the Phillies lose the World Series (oh well). I completed four new watercolors this morning, but I think this sweet little one is my favorite. It's inspired by my new favorite song, "See You Soon" by Irish folk singer Luka Bloom. Here are some of the lyrics, so pretty!
I want to bless you on your way
Say always to yourself be true
I hope you know there is no sweeter place in the world
Than the places I have been with you
See You Soon original watercolor painting, 4x6 inches
NaNoWriMo update: on target with 6,000 words, and it's not even close to midnight!

5,000 and Still Going

I'm on pace with over 5,000 words in my novel so far. Now if I just can keep it up with roughly 1,667 words per day for the next 26 days...
I have to say, once I got going, it's been more fun that I expected. I'm not going to worry too much about the word count as long as I'm writing a bit every day.

Day 2

I'm well behind where I'm supposed to be here on Day 2 of National Novel Writing Month, but I have written 905 words of some semblance of an adventure novel (some of which I even actually like). None of this will ever see the light of day, by the way, just a little side project to help spur creativity!
Here's a cheery little watercolor doodle to brighten your Monday. I did this while working on my End of the World-themed sketchbook for The Sketchbook Project. Of course, it doesn't fit the theme and didn't make it into the sketchbook.

NaNoWriMo Oh No!

November 1st, that means I'm supposed to be writing a novel...I mean, I am writing a novel. One that I've already started and will be adding to this evening. Loosely developed characters, plot, and, well, everything very loose.

I love the painterly effects and use of color in this video of the song "Maybe" by Ingrid Michaelson, one of my favorite female vocal artists.
